Cyprus football and basketball disciplinary sanctions announced
The Cyprus Football Association's judicial officer Aristotelis Vryonides issued several fines and suspensions regarding matches held in March 2026. Anorthosis Famagusta was fined for racist behavior by fans and post-match disorder during the March 21, 2026, match against Akritas Chlorakas, while club president Kyriakos Prastitis was fined for unauthorized entry onto the pitch. Akritas Chlorakas staff member Fytos Kyriakou received a suspension until September 20, 2026, and a fine for pushing a referee during the same game. Additionally, Omonia Aradippou's football operations manager Dimitris Makris was suspended for three matches for insulting officials and opposing players during a March 20, 2026, game against Enosis Neon Paralimniou. Separately, the Cyprus Basketball Federation's judicial officer Pantelis Vorkas imposed multiple fines on Apollon for fan misconduct, including racist behavior, pitch invasions, and property damage during a December 8, 2025, game against AEK. An AEK basketball player was also referred for improper behavior toward opposing fans during the same event.
