Akamas municipality signs contract for solar energy project in Peyia
The Akamas municipality has signed a contract with Trikkis Energy Ltd for the supply and installation of 188 KWp photovoltaic systems. The project, named PROLIGHTmed, involves the construction of an inverter room and metal canopies for solar panels at the parking area of the Peyia Municipal Stadium. The total budget for the project is 456,350 euros, with the specific contract amount set at 374,832 euros plus VAT. Funding is provided by the Interreg Euro-MED program, covering 80% of costs, while the remaining 20% comes from national resources. The systems will utilize net billing, net metering, and virtual net billing methods. The primary goals are to reduce public lighting electricity costs, provide shaded parking for vehicles, and lower carbon emissions. The project aims to improve the local microclimate without requiring the development of additional land. The agreement was signed by Mayor Marinos Lambrou in the presence of municipal executive engineer Myria Loizidi Papanastasiou.
