China and Pakistan propose a five-point peace plan for the Middle East and Iran
During a visit to Beijing on Tuesday, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced a joint five-point initiative aimed at restoring regional stability. The plan calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the rapid initiation of peace talks. Key components include the protection of civilians and non-military infrastructure, such as desalination plants and energy facilities, and the safeguarding of sovereignty and territorial integrity for Iran and Gulf nations. The proposal also emphasizes ensuring the safety of maritime trade routes, specifically the Strait of Hormuz. Both countries advocate for adherence to the United Nations Charter to resolve conflicts through diplomacy. Additionally, the initiative highlights the necessity of providing humanitarian aid to affected populations and preventing further escalation of the conflict.
