Repatriation of Cypriot archaeological artifact from the United States

The Department of Antiquities of Cyprus announced the repatriation of a White Painted V pottery juglet, dating back to the Cypro-Archaic II period (600-480 BC). The artifact was identified by department officials during an online auction and was subsequently removed from the sale following coordination with the auction house. On March 27, 2026, the object was handed over to the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Washington. The Department of Antiquities expressed gratitude to the auction house, Kleinfelter's Auction Inc., for their cooperation. The donor also facilitated the voluntary return of the antiquity to its country of origin. The Cypriot Embassy in Washington played a key role in the coordination and finalization of the repatriation process.
