Two suspects referred to trial for bombing of Limassol kebab shop

Two men, aged 19 and 21, have been referred to trial before the Limassol Criminal Court, with proceedings scheduled to begin on May 12. The suspects, identified in some reports as Turkish Cypriots, were arrested in connection with the detonation of an improvised pipe bomb at a kebab restaurant near the Limassol castle on Tuesday, March 24. This explosion caused extensive damage to the establishment’s entrance and facade. The restaurant is owned by businessman Dmitry Punin, who has been the target of at least three criminal acts against his properties recently. The Limassol District Court has ordered that both suspects remain in custody until the start of the trial. Furthermore, local authorities reported a separate incident on Tuesday, March 31, involving gunfire directed at a bar owned by the same businessman in the tourist area of Germasogeia. Police continue to investigate these ongoing attacks against the businessman's properties.
