Cereal producers organization warns of renewed protests over subsidy issues
The Pancyprian Cereal Producers Organization has announced its intention to send a formal letter to the President of the Republic regarding ongoing issues with the Agricultural Payments Organization (KOAP). The organization claims that a large number of farmers remain excluded from necessary subsidies, which they argue threatens the viability of their agricultural activities. Following the suspension of tractor-led protests originally scheduled for February 16, 2026, the organization held repeated consultations with KOAP, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Agriculture. The producers report that these discussions have failed to yield any substantive progress. Consequently, the organization is requesting direct intervention from the President to resolve the administrative barriers. They have issued a formal warning that if their demands for subsidies are not met and the situation remains stagnant, they will reinstate the protest measures that were previously suspended. The organization emphasizes that these funds are essential for the operation of their farms and the broader agricultural economy.
