Warning issued regarding counterfeit 50 euro banknotes in Cyprus
The National Analysis Centre for Banknotes of the Cyprus Police Forensic Science Service has issued a warning regarding the circulation of counterfeit 50 euro banknotes. These fraudulent notes, which feature serial numbers starting with the characters 'WR', have been detected across all provinces in the Republic of Cyprus. Authorities are advising the public to exercise caution during cash transactions. Business owners are urged to verify all banknotes using detectors approved by the European Central Bank. If a suspicious note is discovered, it should be withheld and reported immediately to the nearest police station or the provincial Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
