Government announces selection process for 94 board positions in 12 semi-state organizations
The Cypriot government has announced the commencement of a selection process to appoint members to the boards of 12 semi-state organizations, following the upcoming expiration of terms in summer 2026. A total of 94 positions are available, which will be filled through the Advisory Council, a mechanism first implemented in 2023. Interested candidates may submit their applications via a designated online platform between April 3 and April 24, 2026. The participating organizations include the Public Gas Corporation (DEFA), the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (RIK), the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC), the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta), and others. The Advisory Council will evaluate applicants based on specific criteria and submit a list of candidates to the Council of Ministers, with the list being three times the number of available positions. The Council is authorized to conduct personal interviews as part of the selection process. Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis noted that 1,241 applications were submitted during the inaugural 2023 process for 13 organizations.
