Israel plans to establish a security zone in southern Lebanon

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will establish a security zone in southern Lebanon extending to the Litani River once the conflict with Hezbollah concludes. The objective is to eliminate Radwan special forces and destroy all weaponry and infrastructure in the area. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that he has ordered the expansion of the existing security zone to neutralize threats of invasion and anti-tank missile fire. Katz stated that 600,000 displaced residents of southern Lebanon will not be permitted to return until northern Israel's security is guaranteed. To achieve this, Israeli officials plan to destroy homes in border villages, citing strategies previously used in Rafah and Beit Hanoun in Gaza. The primary goal of these actions is to permanently remove threats near the border for Israeli residents. The Israeli leadership emphasized its determination to fundamentally change the security situation in the north.
