Cyprus records 182% of normal rainfall in March
Preliminary data from the Cyprus Department of Meteorology indicates that rainfall in the free areas of the island reached 182% of normal levels between March 1 and 9:00 on March 30. During this period, the average total rainfall was 112.5 mm, compared to the standard monthly average of 61.9 mm. The highest precipitation was observed in Stavros tis Psokas, which recorded 253 mm (217% of normal). Other significant measurements included 204.5 mm in Pano Panagia (200% of normal), 201.5 mm in Platania (179% of normal), 179.5 mm in Saittas (215% of normal), and 176.7 mm in Prodromos (147% of normal). Meteorologists are continuing to monitor the situation, noting potential impacts on agriculture, local water resources, and infrastructure. These figures confirm that March was significantly wetter than typical historical averages for the region.
