Police arrest suspect after high-speed chase in Lymbia involving illicit tobacco
At approximately 03:45 on Tuesday, officers from the Cyprus Police Emergency Response Unit (MMAD) attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the Lymbia area for an inspection. The driver refused to comply and accelerated, initiating a high-speed chase. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle collided with police cars, forcing officers to fire warning shots to stop the vehicle. Upon successfully halting the car and apprehending the driver, authorities discovered a large quantity of untaxed tobacco products inside. Police have launched an investigation to determine the origin of the contraband and its intended distribution. While most reports confirm the arrest of the driver, some initial briefings mentioned two individuals being involved. The incident is currently under investigation by local authorities.
