Larnaca to host new CUT school of marine sciences and sustainable development

The Municipality of Larnaca and the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) are set to sign an agreement on April 3 for the construction of a new School of Marine Sciences and Sustainable Development in the Mackenzie area. The signing ceremony will take place at the Creative Engagement Center in Salina Park. The school will consist of two departments focused on marine biology, ecosystems, aquaculture, and sustainable development. Construction tenders are expected to be announced within one month, with the project slated for completion in two years. The new facility aims to accommodate approximately 400 students once fully operational. Funding for the construction is secured through a loan provided by the European Investment Bank to the university. The first students are expected to be admitted in the autumn of 2028. This development is part of the city's strategy to become a hub for the marine economy.
