Eighty-four unsafe products identified in EU Safety Gate alert

The Cyprus Consumer Protection Service reported that 84 non-food products identified as hazardous in the EU's Safety Gate system for the week starting March 23, 2026, were flagged for the Cypriot market. These goods include items such as baby products, cosmetics, toys, cars, and motorcycles. Responsibility for market surveillance is distributed among several authorities: the Consumer Protection Service (23 products), the Department of Electromechanical Services (26 products), the Department of Road Transport (20 products), the Pharmaceutical Services (8 products), and the Department of Labour Inspection (7 products). Consumers and economic operators are advised to verify product details on the official Safety Gate website, which is available in Greek. Retailers currently possessing these items must notify the relevant authorities immediately. Consumers are encouraged to cease using any such products in their possession and return them where appropriate.
