Cypriot Olympians join the Dimitrios Vikelas sports education program

The Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) has officially integrated Cypriot Olympians into the 'Dimitrios Vikelas' sports education and values program. This initiative, which originated from the Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, is being implemented in Cyprus by the KOA. On March 17, 2026, KOA Vice President Kalli Chatziiosif briefed the board of the Cyprus Olympians Association regarding the board's decision to expand the program. While the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (YPAN) initially selected 12 elite athletes, the KOA has now broadened the participation base to reach all schools in Cyprus. Participating Olympians will undergo training to become certified 'Dimitrios Vikelas' ambassadors. Following their certification, these athletes will visit schools to promote the values of Olympism and the benefits of active sports participation. A comprehensive list of participating athletes will be provided to the Ministry of Education for coordination with schools across the country.
