Limassol water network upgrade project launched
The Limassol District Organisation (EOA) announced a €9.2 million project to modernize the city's water network to address significant water losses and frequent pipeline damage. Funded by the EU cohesion Thalia programme 2021-2027, the initiative involves replacing approximately 100km of aging infrastructure. The work will be carried out in three major areas of Limassol. The route for the new network spans from Enaerios, through Makariou Avenue to the central fire station, following the Garyllis riverbed to Navarinou Street, and continuing through Irini, Gladstonos, and Anexartisias Streets back to the coastal road. The EOA stated that the replacement will be performed gradually to ensure continuous water supply for consumers. The project is currently awaiting the start of the construction phase. Once complete, the organisation expects improved financial and operational efficiency for both the EOA and local water users.
