Blood league campaign launched to increase blood donations in Cyprus
On March 30, 2026, the Cyprus Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the Blood Center, the Cyprus Football Association, and the Cyprus Footballers Association, officially launched the 'Blood League' campaign. The initiative aims to increase national blood reserves and foster a culture of regular blood donation. Fans are encouraged to visit blood donation stations and declare the football team they support, contributing to a collective donation score. The team with the highest number of participating donors will be named the 'Champion of Life.' The Omonia Foundation has formally announced its support for this national effort, urging its fan base to participate. The campaign uses the popularity of football as a tool for social contribution and community engagement. President of the Cyprus Red Cross Society, Fotini Papadopoulou, emphasized the urgent need for blood and the importance of regular donations to support citizens in both routine and emergency situations.
