Reports of US PrSM missile strikes in southern Iran
On February 28, reports emerged regarding missile strikes in southern Iran, near the city of Lamerd, resulting in at least 21 deaths. Visual analysis and expert evaluations, reported by the New York Times, suggest that the US-made Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) was used for the first time in combat during these attacks on a school and a sports facility. The weapon is characterized by its ability to detonate above a target and release tungsten pellets. Additionally, local Iranian media reported that a US Tomahawk cruise missile strike on a school in the city of Minab occurred on the same day, allegedly causing 175 casualties. While the Lamerd strikes involve evidence of the PrSM, these claims remain separate from the incident in Minab. No official confirmation of these strikes has been provided by the United States government. The analysis relies on forensic examination of debris and video footage of the projectile's flight path.
