Staffing and payment details for 2026 legislative elections
The Cypriot Ministry of Interior has opened the application process for staffing election centers for the May 24, 2026, legislative elections. Applications must be submitted via the aps.elections.moi.gov.cy portal by midnight on April 6, 2026. Eligible candidates include public servants, unemployed graduates, and private sector employees, with priority given to registered unemployed graduates. The Ministry plans to establish 1,185 polling stations in Cyprus, requiring 1,185 presiding officers, 4,439 assistants, and 1,185 police officers. Additionally, up to 10 polling stations may open abroad in cities including Athens, Patras, Thessaloniki, London, and Brussels, provided there is sufficient voter interest by April 2. Payment for presiding officers is set at 617 euros, while assistants will receive 316 euros for the day. Work shifts run from 6:00 to approximately 22:00, with a one-hour lunch break at noon.
