Recent violent incidents in Limassol involve arrests over a brawl and attacks on a businessman
Police in Limassol have arrested two additional men, aged 41 and 39, in connection with an attempted murder following a violent brawl between two groups of Iranian nationals on the evening of March 30, 2026. This brings the total number of detainees to eight, with others already remanded for four to eight days due to their roles in the incident, which involved gunfire and left three people hospitalized. Simultaneously, investigations continue into a separate series of attacks targeting a 40-year-old Russian businessman, Dmitry Punin. On Tuesday, a masked assailant on a motorcycle fired approximately 16 shots at the businessman's wine shop, marking the fourth such attack against his property since November 2025. Previous incidents include an arson attack on his vehicles, a fire at his wine shop, and an improvised explosive device detonation at a fast-food outlet. Despite police protection provided to the businessman and his family, the attacks have persisted, and authorities are currently analyzing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrator.
