Anti-corruption authority clarifies complaint procedures regarding audit reports

On March 30, 2026, the Independent Authority Against Corruption issued a statement clarifying how it handles public complaints based on Audit Office reports. The Authority noted that citizens frequently submit complaints by simply restating content from Audit Office reports without having personal knowledge of the facts. Such submissions do not meet the legal requirements for initiating a formal investigation. The Authority maintains a long-standing cooperation with the Audit Office, which began in 2023. Under this established procedure, the Audit Office directly forwards findings of potential corruption to either the Legal Service or the Authority. The Authority stated that it receives all Audit Office reports and evaluates them for potential investigative action. It reserves the right to initiate investigations ex officio when specific issues fall under its jurisdiction. Consequently, the public is advised that there is no need to file personal complaints based solely on existing audit reports.
