Limassol municipality announces road infrastructure and maintenance plans

The Municipality of Limassol has commenced asphalt paving works on Leontiou Street as part of a city-wide road network upgrade program. Haris Nikolaou, president of the Traffic Issues Committee, stated these interventions aim to enhance road safety and urban functionality. Separately, Mayor Giannis Armeftis presented a progress report for the Mesa Geitonia district, attended by Deputy Mayor Marios Protopapas and municipal staff. Key statistics reported for the area include the collection of 10,240 tons of bulky items, 440 plot cleanings, and the removal of 49 abandoned vehicles, with an additional 114 removed by owners. Current infrastructure in Mesa Geitonia comprises approximately 62 kilometers of roads and 120 kilometers of sidewalks. For 2026, the municipality has allocated a budget of 700,000 euros for asphalt works covering 7 kilometers. Additionally, 900,000 euros has been budgeted for the construction and restoration of 5 kilometers of sidewalks during the first half of 2026.
