DISY President Annita Demetriou addresses national anniversaries event

During a speech at an event organized by NEDISY for the EOKA fighters associations to commemorate the national anniversaries of March 25th and April 1st, Democratic Rally (DISY) President Annita Demetriou discussed the current geopolitical climate. She described the era as one of significant instability, noting that the Middle East is currently a battlefield and the Eastern Mediterranean is a hub for strategic competition. Demetriou argued that Europe must prioritize its defense architecture and energy autonomy in response to these global changes. Regarding the Cyprus issue, she characterized it as an unresolved matter that requires continued diplomatic effort. The president emphasized that Ankara's revisionist policies remain a concern that contradicts international law and the European acquis. She concluded that Cyprus, in coordination with Greece, should act as a reliable partner and a pillar of stability in the region.
