Cyprus to participate in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games
The Cyprus Olympic Committee has confirmed that seven athletes will represent Cyprus at the 4th Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal. The event is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 14, 2026, marking the first time the Games are hosted in an African country. Cyprus will participate in six different sports, which is a record for the nation. The national delegation includes athletes in track and field, taekwondo, swimming, fencing, judo, and coastal rowing. Among the selected representatives is Evgenia Polykarpou from the Limassol Nautical Club, who will compete in rowing. This participation marks the first time Cyprus is represented in the sports of fencing, taekwondo, and rowing at the Youth Olympics. Selection was determined by the athletes' global rankings in their respective disciplines.
