British bases propose antenna installation at Akrotiri amidst local opposition

The United Kingdom has submitted a request to install 32 antennas at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, a project requiring the expropriation of approximately 340 skales of land. To address public health concerns, the British authorities have proposed installing three electromagnetic-radiation monitors and sharing the resulting data and environmental studies. Kourion Mayor Pantelis Georgiou, who chairs the committee reviewing the request, has formally opposed the project and announced that the municipality will initiate legal action to block it.
