President Christodoulides visits Cairo for EGYPES 2026 and energy talks
President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides will travel to Cairo to participate in the EGYPES 2026 energy conference, running from March 30 to April 1. During his visit, President Christodoulides is scheduled to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments. Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry George Papanastasiou will accompany the President. In the presence of both leaders, a framework agreement will be signed regarding the development of natural gas discoveries in the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone, specifically targeting the Cronos and Aphrodite fields. Additionally, the President will hold a meeting with the CEO of TotalEnergies, Patrick Pouyanné. Minister Damianou is also scheduled to participate in a roundtable discussion on energy priorities and national security. The delegation will tour the exhibition, including the Cypriot and Egyptian pavilions, before returning to Cyprus.
