President Christodoulides discusses autism centre and political issues in Ayia Napa
On Sunday, President Nikos Christodoulides participated in the 'Run for Autism' charity event in Ayia Napa, which attracted over 5,000 participants from 20 countries. During the event, he announced that a model autism centre in the free Famagusta region, originally proposed in February 2025, will be completed within 18 months at a cost of €4.5 million. Addressing the Cyprus problem, the President expressed optimism regarding the resumption of negotiations and expects a positive response from the Turkish-Cypriot leadership regarding a meeting. He stated that political will must be transformed into concrete initiatives to move the process forward. Additionally, he noted that the installation of antennas by British bases in Akrotiri is among the issues scheduled for comprehensive discussion with British authorities. The event was organized by the Autism Support Association, with proceeds going to support individuals with autism.
