Weather warning issued for strong winds and rainfall in Cyprus

The Cyprus Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning effective from 12:00 to 18:00 on Sunday, March 29. The forecast indicates strong southwesterly to westerly winds reaching force 6 to 7 on the Beaufort scale, primarily affecting southern and northern coastal areas. The region is currently under the influence of low pressure, resulting in cloudy skies, local showers, and potential thunderstorms until Monday morning. Thin atmospheric dust is expected to persist until midday, with visibility generally good but temporarily reduced during rainfall. Meteorological official Panagiotis Liggis noted that sea temperatures are estimated at 18 degrees Celsius, and authorities have urged those working at sea to exercise caution due to rough sea conditions. Further isolated rainfall and occasional short-lived thunderstorms are anticipated through Tuesday, with temperatures ranging between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius depending on the region.
