Police arrest multiple suspects in two separate incidents in Nicosia
In the early hours of Monday, Nicosia police arrested a 45-year-old man caught inside a residence following a report of a suspected burglary. Police discovered burglary tools and unexplained items on the suspect, leading to his detention for further investigation. In a separate incident during the early hours of Saturday, police units patrolling Dali and Latsia intercepted a 16-year-old driver and his 19-year-old passenger in a stolen vehicle. The pursuit involved multiple traffic violations and ended when the vehicle crashed into a road railing, though no injuries were reported. Officers found two knives, a quantity of drugs, and an electric grill suspected to be stolen from the Strovolos area inside the car. Additionally, conflicting reports from news outlets suggest a separate incident involving a 20-year-old and a 22-year-old occurring Thursday night, where individuals were arrested for drug possession, driving without insurance, and unexplained possession of cash. Authorities continue to examine all cases to determine the full extent of the criminal activities involved.
