Cyclist arrested in Limassol following police evasion and drug discovery
On Saturday at approximately 7:30 pm, police officers on patrol in Limassol signaled for a cyclist to stop for a routine check. The 33-year-old individual attempted to flee, falling from his bicycle before continuing on foot. Officers intercepted the man a short distance away, where he allegedly assaulted and pushed them during the arrest. He was initially detained for causing a disturbance, breaching the peace, and assaulting an officer. A subsequent search of the suspect revealed 26 packages of cannabis weighing 20 grams, 19 packages of methamphetamine weighing 9 grams, and 442 euros in cash. Following this discovery, he was re-arrested on suspicion of illegal drug possession with intent to supply. The suspect remains in custody to assist with the investigation. The drug squad and the Ayios Ioannis police station are currently conducting further inquiries.
