Professional and personal history of singers Marinella and Stelios Kazantzidis

Marinella and Stelios Kazantzidis began their professional collaboration in the mid-1950s at the Luxembourg center in Thessaloniki. In 1957, they moved to Athens to further their careers and released their first recordings, including 'Nitsa, Elenitsa' and 'I proti agapi sou eimai ego' on 78 rpm records. Marinella's first solo track, 'Irtha pali konta sou,' was released in 1959 with vocals by Giota Lydia. The duo toured successfully in the United States, Australia, and Istanbul, recording numerous songs throughout their tenure. Marinella also recorded rare solo tracks specifically for the Australian market. They maintained a romantic relationship for a decade before marrying in Halandri on May 7, 1964, with Manolis Chiotis and Mary Linda as witnesses. Despite their high-profile musical partnership and marriage, their union did not last permanently.
