Two people died in a traffic accident on Egnatia Odos

A fatal multi-vehicle accident occurred on the Egnatia Odos highway, one kilometer after the Dodoni junction, during a hail storm. A truck collided with a passenger car heading toward Igoumenitsa. An Egnatia Odos employee arrived at the scene to place safety cones and assist, but was struck by a third vehicle. This third vehicle subsequently hit the already stationary truck, resulting in the death of the passenger in that car. The employee was thrown into the opposite lane and died from the impact. Thirteen firefighters and emergency medical units from EKAB arrived to assist with rescues. Two other individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Hatzikosta General Hospital in Ioannina. Reports differ on current traffic status, as one source indicates the road is reopened while another states both lanes are closed.
