Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou visits Thessaloniki
Cypriot Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou conducted a two-day visit to Thessaloniki on March 27-28, 2026. The primary purpose was to inaugurate the 'Agonies – Diamantis' exhibition, which runs from March 29 to May 31, 2026, at the Museum of Byzantine Culture. Ioannou visited the Chair of Cypriot Studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki to meet with Professor Charalambos Alexandrou. He also held discussions with representatives of Cypriot diaspora organizations, including the Union of Cypriots of Greece. During the visit, the minister met with the Greek Deputy Minister of Interior for Macedonia and Thrace, Konstantinos Gioulekas, at the Thessaloniki War Museum to view a private collection on World War II. While early reports planned a visit to the 2nd Special Forest Operations Unit, the final ministry statement confirms meetings focused on academic, diaspora, and governmental relations. The exhibition features works previously held at the Leventis Gallery in Nicosia since 2018, marking its first presentation abroad.
