Diplomatic efforts to resolve the US-Iran conflict
Turkey is currently leading a regional diplomatic initiative to mediate between the United States and Iran regarding their ongoing conflict. Ankara is working alongside Pakistan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia to promote a 15-point peace plan proposed by Washington. A planned four-party summit, originally intended to be held in Turkey, has been moved to Islamabad and is scheduled for 30 March to accommodate the Pakistani foreign minister. During the Future Investment Initiative summit in Miami, US President Donald Trump praised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his handling of the situation. Trump stated that Turkish officials complied with US requests and noted that other allies who failed to provide support during the crisis may face consequences. Erdogan, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Istanbul, characterized the regional conflict as an illegal and senseless war that has negatively impacted humanity. Observers note that Turkey may secure significant geopolitical and economic benefits if a ceasefire is reached through these negotiations.
