Pakistan to host quadrilateral foreign ministers' meeting on Middle East conflict
Foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey are scheduled to meet in Islamabad on March 29 and 30. The meeting was convened at the invitation of Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss the ongoing war in the Middle East and efforts to de-escalate regional tensions. Participants are also expected to hold meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed that the event was originally planned to be held in Turkey, but the venue was shifted to Islamabad due to the domestic commitments of the Pakistani officials. Some sources indicate the discussions may involve a 15-point peace plan proposed by Washington for Iran, though official statements from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry focus broadly on addressing regional instability. This marks a significant diplomatic gathering since the outbreak of the war.
