Afghan national sentenced to 15 years for child abuse in Nuneaton

A 23-year-old Afghan national, Ahmad Mulakhil, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the abduction and rape of a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton, United Kingdom. The crimes occurred four months after the perpetrator arrived in the country as an asylum seeker. A court found him guilty of rape, two counts of sexual assault, child abduction, and the recording of an obscene video. Security footage captured the defendant approaching the victim in a park to ask her age. During the trial, Mulakhil claimed he believed the victim was 19 years old and alleged that she had initiated the sexual contact. Prosecutors rejected these claims, describing his attempt to blame the victim as repulsive. The victim's identity remains protected by law, and she provided testimony regarding the events that took place last July.
