Series of fires and vandalism reported across Cyprus
Recent incidents in Cyprus include several fires and acts of vandalism. In Limassol, a motorcycle parked near Holy Cross Church in Polemidia was intentionally set on fire on March 29, and on March 30, a group of approximately 90 to 100 youths on motorcycles caused disturbances, setting fires and lighting firecrackers. Furthermore, on April 1, a vehicle belonging to a 46-year-old was damaged by an explosion caused by a factory-made firecracker and flammable material in Agios Ioannis, while another vehicle belonging to a 72-year-old caught fire in Limassol on March 31. In Nicosia, a fire broke out at an antique shop in Agios Dometios on April 1, and an abandoned building in Strovolos was set on fire on the night of March 31. Police report no arrests regarding the motorcycle disturbances but are actively investigating all incidents to determine motives and identify those responsible.
