Series of arson and explosive attacks reported across Cyprus
Police in Cyprus are investigating several criminal incidents involving fires and explosions occurring between March 31 and April 1, 2026. In Deryneia, an explosion outside the residence of a 49-year-old caused damage to a garage door at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. In Limassol, an explosion caused by a firecracker and flammable materials damaged a 46-year-old's vehicle parked in Agios Ioannis at 3:00 a.m. Additionally, a vehicle owned by a 72-year-old in Limassol was damaged by a fire on Tuesday night. Authorities have confirmed that a fire at an antique shop in Agios Dometios, Nicosia, was arson involving flammable materials, which also damaged the owner's vehicle. Furthermore, a fire in an abandoned building in Strovolos, Nicosia, on Tuesday at 10:45 p.m. is also suspected to be malicious. Investigations are ongoing for all incidents, with police seeking to identify the perpetrators.
