Recent wave of criminal incidents involving arson and explosions in Cyprus
Cypriot authorities are investigating several criminal incidents across the island. On April 2, a bomb explosion occurred at 1:30 a.m. outside the Deryneia home of a 49-year-old businessman, causing damage to the garage door. In a separate case involving a March 30 blast at company offices in Paphos, police arrested a 46-year-old man who was found in possession of 4.5 grams of cannabis and a knife. Additionally, fires in Nicosia and Limassol, including one at an antique shop in Agios Dometios, have been officially classified as arson by authorities. Investigators are currently analyzing surveillance footage and gathering witness testimony in all ongoing cases. No arrests have been announced regarding the Deryneia bombing, and officials are awaiting a statement from the target of that attack to determine potential motives. Investigations by the CID remain active across all districts.
