Recent incidents of civil unrest in Limassol and Larnaca

On Monday night, approximately 90 to 100 youths on motorcycles caused disturbances in Limassol by setting fires and throwing firecrackers, with police investigating a potential link to upcoming military service. No arrests were made during these events in Limassol. Separately, in a Sunday incident in Polemidia, a motorcycle parked near the Holy Cross Church was intentionally set on fire by unknown individuals, resulting in extensive damage. In a separate incident on Friday night in Larnaca, police responded to a fire in a trash bin near the church of Ayios Afxentiou and Efstathiou. Upon arrival, unknown individuals fired fireworks and firecrackers at police vehicles. While official police reports stated no injuries or vehicle damage occurred, some local reports alleged that Molotov cocktails were also thrown and that police vehicles sustained damage. Authorities are currently searching for the perpetrators in both cities.
