Recent fire incidents reported across Cyprus
Over the weekend, several fire incidents were reported across Cyprus. On Saturday, an abandoned storage container in Ayios Athanasios, Limassol, caught fire; authorities are investigating potential arson by young people. Also on Saturday, a fire involving burning tires in central Limassol was reported, which police suspect was set intentionally by youths in the context of pre-Easter activities. In a separate incident on Saturday, a fire broke out in a private home in Frenaros, Famagusta, caused by a wood stove located too close to furniture; three fire engines responded to extinguish the blaze. Additionally, on early Saturday morning in Paphos, a fire occurred at a cafeteria, causing damage to the facade and a glass display case. Police have blocked off the scene in Paphos and are investigating the incident as a malicious act. No injuries have been reported in these incidents, although significant property damage occurred in each case.
