Police attacked with fireworks during fire incident in Larnaca

On the night of Friday, March 27, around 23:00, police and fire services were dispatched to a location near the Church of Saints Auxentius and Eustathius in Larnaca following reports of a burning trash bin. Upon arrival, police patrols were targeted by unknown individuals who launched fireworks at their vehicles. Some sources, including OmegaLive, reported that a Molotov cocktail may have also been thrown at the officers prior to the fireworks. Official police reports stated that no officers were injured and initially indicated no damage to vehicles, while other media outlets reported that material damage occurred to the patrol cars. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to identify the perpetrators. The incident is believed by some reports to be related to traditional Easter bonfire preparations known as lampratzies. The Aradippou Police Station is leading the ongoing investigation, and no suspects have been arrested so far.
