Attempted murder of 34-year-old man in Paralimni
An attempted murder occurred at approximately 00:10 on Friday night when a 34-year-old Cypriot man was fired upon while driving his vehicle on Protaras-Cape Greco Avenue near the Pernera traffic lights in Paralimni. Police report that at least two suspects were hiding in an adjacent field when they opened fire, striking only the victim's car. The 34-year-old, who is known to authorities due to a prior drug-related conviction, was uninjured in the incident. Shortly after the shooting, at 00:45, a burning abandoned vehicle was discovered on the Agia Napa-Rizoelia road within the British Sovereign Base Areas. Authorities are investigating a potential link between the shooting and the torched vehicle, which is believed to have been used by the perpetrators. Famagusta CID is currently examining CCTV footage and witness testimonies to identify the suspects. The scene of the shooting was secured by the Famagusta Police Department, while the scene of the vehicle fire remains under the guard of the British Bases Police.
