Attempted murder investigation of nightclub owner in Protaras

Police in Famagusta are investigating an attempted murder targeting a 34-year-old nightclub owner that occurred shortly after midnight on March 28 in Protaras. The victim was driving a Hummer on the Protaras-Cape Greco Avenue when at least two suspects, who were hiding in a nearby field, opened fire on the vehicle. The victim was not injured and escaped on foot, eventually returning to his nightclub. Police recovered 9mm shell casings at the scene and later located a burning vehicle in Xylofagou, believed to be the getaway car. A pistol and a magazine were found inside the charred vehicle, which had been reported stolen from Nicosia. The victim has provided a statement but claimed he had no personal disputes, while authorities are investigating his business dealings. Sources differ on the motive, as some investigators suggest the attack was a contract killing attempt, while others note that the bullet placement suggests a warning rather than a lethal intent.
