Attempted murder of a 34-year-old businessman in Protaras

A 34-year-old nightclub owner was the target of an attempted murder at midnight in Protaras. The victim was driving a Hummer approximately 300 meters from his club when he was fired upon near a traffic light. He managed to exit his vehicle and escape on foot back toward his business. Authorities, led by Andreas Konstantinou of the Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department, state that at least two perpetrators were involved. Approximately 30 minutes after the shooting, a burning vehicle was discovered in a field in Xylofagou, located within the British Sovereign Base Areas. Police investigation confirmed that a pistol with a magazine was found inside the charred vehicle, which had been previously reported stolen in Nicosia. Investigations into the victim's professional activities are ongoing to determine a motive.
