Death of London-based Cypriot businessman Omiros Omirou at age 51

Omiros Omirou, a prominent member of the London-based Cypriot community, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the age of 51. Reports state his death was due to a terminal illness. He was the owner of the Michael Omiros Ltd accounting firm in North London and served as a treasurer and youth coach for the Cockfosters FC football club. Born to Michael and Maro Omirou, he held ancestral roots in the villages of Trypimeni and Gypsou, currently located in occupied Cyprus. He is survived by his wife, Melanie, and two sons, Mikey and Zak, as well as his sister, Yiota Stavrou. The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8, at 11:00 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Twelve Apostles in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. Following the service, he will be buried at the New Southgate Cemetery. Community members and family remember him for his contributions to both his business and local athletic organizations.
