Diego Simeone will continue as the head coach of Atletico Madrid after both parties reached an agreement to maintain his contract until the summer of 2027. The decision follows a report from AS stating that neither the club nor the manager intends to trigger the existing release clause in his current contract. Despite interest linked to Inter Milan and the Italian national team, the 55-year-old coach has chosen to stay at the Metropolitano. There is a potential provision in the agreement for a further extension until 2028. Since his appointment in 2011, Simeone has managed 785 matches for the club.
