Duffy to recount story of kidnapping and music industry departure in Disney+ documentary

Welsh singer-songwriter Duffy is set to share her story in a new documentary produced as a Hulu Original for Disney+. The project was officially announced by Angela Jain at the Series Mania festival in Lille, France. The film, directed by Gill Callan, will cover the artist's childhood in Wales, her rapid rise to international fame in 2008 following the success of the song 'Mercy', and her subsequent withdrawal from public life in 2011. In 2020, the singer publicly revealed that she had ceased her career after being kidnapped and raped. The documentary features archival footage and interviews with her family, friends, and colleagues. This project marks the first time the singer will discuss these traumatic events in depth since her initial social media disclosure. Disney+ has stated that the production aims to handle the sensitive subject matter with professional care.
