Ombudsman report criticizes Limassol EOA for lack of cooperation

The Commissioner for Administration and Human Rights, Maria Stylianou-Lottidi, released a report regarding complaints filed against the Limassol District Organization for Local Government (EOA). The report identifies consistent delays and a failure by the EOA to cooperate effectively with the Ombudsman's office. Complainants allege that the organization failed to act within a reasonable timeframe or provide adequate justification for its administrative actions and omissions. The Ombudsman’s office had repeatedly requested information and documentation regarding these grievances but reported receiving no substantial response. Despite issuing warning letters regarding the possibility of summoning officials to testify, the office noted that its investigative process was significantly obstructed. The report emphasizes that this lack of cooperation undermines the watchdog's ability to protect citizens' rights. Furthermore, the Ombudsman noted that these challenges in cooperation with the Limassol EOA are recurring, negatively impacting the efficiency of ongoing investigations.
