Handala hackers access FBI Director Kash Patel's personal email
The hacker group Handala, linked by researchers to Iranian cyberintelligence, claimed to have compromised the personal Gmail account of FBI Director Kash Patel. On Friday, the group published personal photographs of Patel and over 300 emails spanning from 2010 to 2019. While the FBI confirmed the breach of the personal account, spokesperson Ben Williamson stated that the exposed data is historical in nature and contains no government information. The bureau indicated that it has taken steps to mitigate risks associated with the incident. Handala, which claims to be a pro-Palestinian group, recently targeted the Michigan-based medical provider Stryker. Reuters could not independently verify the authenticity of all the published emails. The leaked materials include images of Patel in various personal settings, such as traveling and social engagements.
