Humanitarian aid shipment delivered to Gaza via the Amalthea initiative

On Thursday, a shipment of approximately 900 tons of humanitarian aid arrived in Gaza as part of the Cypriot-led Amalthea initiative. Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos confirmed the delivery on Friday, noting that the shipment departed on March 17. The aid includes medical equipment, neonatal incubators, shelter materials, and food supplies. The operation was facilitated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), as well as the United Arab Emirates and France. The mission utilized the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism to reach its destination. Distribution of the aid has already commenced within the territory. This effort is part of a broader strategy by the Republic of Cyprus to act as a humanitarian bridge between the European Union and the Middle East.
